So I'm stuck without Photoshop for a while, Ive painted a whole heck of a lot of paintings, getting ready for first Monday trade days in Canton Tx, (The 1st through the 4th of may) here are a few, but there are MANY more that have not been photographed. The pictures aren't cropped very well, but its the best I could do without Photoshop. I ordered my business cards so that I can hand them out while there. If you are in east Texas and you like my work, drop on by and look for me there:) Just type in Canton first Monday trade days' into google search engine, and you'll find out everything you need to know. Enjoy!

On March the 23rd I was rushed to the hospital because of a MAJOR panic attack. It was the weirdest experience of my life. I honestly thought I was dying. Today is the first day since then that I feel completely normal. I left the hospital on the 29th. I had to stay because my resting heart rate stayed steady at about 120 for days and days. They gave me some medicine to slow down the heart rate, when after trial and error, they fought the right dosage amount, they finally let me leave with a prescription for a months worth of medication that made me feel sluggish, un-energetic. But I kept painting through it all. Obviously not my best work, but proves my determination to keep on going no matter what life throws you. Here a a few I painting while 'medicated'.

I stopped taking the medication to see what would happen, I hoped to god that my heart and body would just bounce back to normal, and WAHOO it DID!

Feeling GREAT Today!:)

So,
I've finished another tree painting. I really love the textures in the trunks of the trees and the way I've figured out how to create those subtle knots and swirls. I also like the way the tree trunks look like molten metal. I tried to keep it simple this time so that the focus is on the pendants and the tree trunk, I used a very minimal color palette.

What A trip! Me and my daughter are back from Brazil but It was hell getting here! I'm glad we're back. I've reorganized the apartment to make room for a play yard for Natalie. She's not the baby she was when we left for Brazil in December. She's very happy with her new entertainment area! Today I have finally started painting again. I have a lot of work to do with a show and a few art festivals coming up. Gotta get to work. I started out with an easy little 6x8 painting just to get back into the habit.

Composition Practice

Every now and then I get inspired to just simply work with color and composition. I think its good practice to occasionally forget your subject matter and get down to the bare bones of art. Balance, the element of surprise, and that essence that magically builds itself on a canvas that is a picture of the core of who you are. When I paint for myself, and forget about what "sells" this is what I create. Too bad no one wants to buy me, but I'll still paint me occasionally because it just feels natural.

Monday, March 1st

I've been in Rio for over two months now and it has been as hot as HELL! Today I'm wearing sweat pants and a knit sweater. It feel like January in New York (well maybe a bit of an exaggeration). I'm guessing that the unusually cold Brazilian weather is what inspired the color choices of my latest painting. I'm not as homesick this week. Its been nice, and I have been sleeping well. I called this new angel painting 'Angel of Peace'.

I've painted quite a bit here, mostly for sale in the US but one very large painting for my mother in-law. It's 40x40 inches and looks great in her dining room (or atleast it will when it gets hung properly). All is well, except that I am missing family back home. The best one I've done so far here in Rio, you can see more in the 2010 gallery.
